New Balance Expands Partnership with Team Garmin-Sharp

BOSTON, January 9, 2014 – Global athletic leader New Balance has expanded their multi-year sponsorship of Team Garmin-Sharp, the elite American professional cycling team owned by Slipstream Sports. The New Balance logo will be added to Team Garmin-Sharp’s kit and New Balance will become the exclusive off bike athletic footwear and off bike clothing sponsor starting with the 2014 season.

Since 2011 New Balance has been the official off-bike athletic shoe for Team Garmin-Sharp, New Balance will now provide casual apparel to the team including polo shirts, track suits, t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts for various off bike activities. Versions of Team Garmin-Sharp’s off-bike apparel will also be available for consumers exclusively and select New Balance retail outlets in spring 2014.

“New Balance and Team Garmin-Sharp continue to share the same drive and passion that initially brought our brands together,” said Rob DeMartini, New Balance President and CEO. “As one of pro cycling’s most talented teams we are thrilled to build on our already successful relationship with Team Garmin-Sharp.”

New Balance recently shot video footage at the team’s pre-season training camp in Colorado where Team New Balance runners Jenny Simpson, Emma Coburn and Anton Krupicka took Team Garmin-Sharp riders, including Tyler Farrar and Alex Howes, out for a six mile training run. “This video shows world class runners and riders coming together to train, and is an excellent reflection of the expansion of the New Balance ethos across multiple sports,” says DeMartini.

“New Balance has been an outstanding partner for us, and its drive for excellence continually mirrors our own,” said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO, Slipstream Sports and Team Garmin-Sharp. “We were humbled by the success of the custom argyle 890 running shoe last year, and this year we will work New Balance to create off-bike clothing that riders and fans can both experience. We are thrilled to continue to partner with New Balance in this expanded sponsorship.”

New Balance will once again release a limited edition Team Garmin-Sharp 890 running shoe, drawing inspiration from the team’s unique argyle kit. The limited edition Team Garmin-Sharp 890v4 will launch globally in June at New Balance retail stores,, and select retailers with the suggested retail price of $124.99.

New Balance will also have a visible marketing presence at key races in the U.S., particularly in California and Colorado, as well as races in Europe and Asia Pacific.

UR Team to Ride BOS Suspension in 2014

UR Team to Ride BOS Suspension in 2014

First of all UR Team would like to thank Fox Racing Shox for the support and all the people that helped us at Fox along the way.

Indeed, after months of testing, UR Team can announce that the whole team (Downhill, Enduro and Slopestyle) will be riding BOS Suspensions for the following race season. This was a big decision for UR team, but this decision has been driven by the team’s goal for performance.

With BOS we know we have the best package with product performance and team support. We have never seen BOS and Olivier Bossard so eager to win more races and we know we have the full support from everyone in the company. UR team is proud also to play an important role in the development of their products and is really appreciative to work with such top of the range, innovative and technical suspensions.

Boxer ready to fight

Mick Hannah is a fighter. After having been so close to his goal in 2013, he is on a mission to knock down the clock and BOS Suspension is these new weapons.

The last 2 years have shown huge growth for myself and the UR Team as a whole. Our goals combined with the products, goals and dedication that BOS are offering us, I’m confident we will be taking it to the next level and beyond.

Olivier Bossard has this to say:
Fabien and his team were part of the first MTB team to race BOS Suspension. Today we wish to reinforce our presence at the highest MTBing racing level and so this partnership comes as a natural step to take in this direction. The UR Team is one of the key players on the World Cup circuit. We really trust the work that will be achieved by these very talented riders may it be in Downhill, Enduro or Slopestyle. All this will help us push our boundries and take our products to the limit.

Fabien Cousinié team owner:
I’m really glad to see the team is back working with BOS. Our paths separated a few year ago but it was to make a better and stronger come back in 2014. BOS and UR Team are neighbours in the South West of France, so it’s going to make all the development processes much faster: Keep your eyes open! We’ve already got some surprises on the way!
