Young Talent Alex Volokhov joins Knolly Bikes
The city of Nelson, nestled in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia, Canada has produced a fair share of legendary riders over the past few years. Freeride pioneers, Rampage Champions and Knolly’s riders Garett Buehler and Evan Schwartz to name just a few consistent contributors to progression of our sport. It is no wonder Freeride Entertainment started and still operates out of the small town. To nobody’s surprise talent continues to come out of the area. We’re excited to announce that Nelson local, young gun and future freeriding star Alex Volokhov is joining Knolly Bikes for 2015!
A look at the historic Mountain Biking landscape through the eyes of Margus Riga:
Alex impressed us in 2014 riding with the industry’s top athletes at “Hoffest” and putting some work into a guest appearance for a movie coming out this Spring. He followed up a strong summer releasing his own self promoted edit showcasing his skills shredding on his Podium:
||I couldn’t be more pumped on joining Knolly Bikes this year. Teaming up with a great brand that is passionate about the sport is going to be awesome! Having rode the Podium last year it’s safe to say it’s one of the best DH bikes I’ve ever tossed a leg over. I cannot wait to kick off the 2015 season along side some of the best teammates with the best support out there! Thanks Knolly! – Alex Volokhov
| Alex lives and plays here.
Alex had some great references, one of which being Garett Buehler (who’s recommendations we never take lightly), but it was’t until we met Alex that we wanted to bring him into the mix. He fits our brand well with a laid back, respectful demeanour who is approachable and can talk about how well the bikes perform. We’re looking forward to supporting Alex as he progresses his career and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table.
| Tell all your friends Alex!

The YakAttack World Challenge Series
The 2015 YakAttack World Challenge series commences on April 13th in the pristine mountains of Patagonia. The series will take XC mountain biking to a new level by pitting riders against a variety of terrains and climates in some of the world’s most inhospitable but scenically breathtaking locations around the globe.
The first race, AlpacAttack, promises to deliver a spectacular start to the series, as it traverses a land that contains some of the world’s most active volcanoes. 700km of diverse trails that include Araucaria forest, windswept steppe, volcanic sand, lava fields and Andean gravel roads take riders from the Neuquen province of Argentina to the shores of Lake Villarica in Pucon, Chile.
The six day stage race which has been likened to the original “Desafio de los Volcanes”, takes riders into close proximity of Patagonia’s most magnificent snow capped volcanoes, Sollipulli, Llaima, Lonquimay and Villarica, with a resulting 10,000m of climbing required to complete the course.
Stage four of the race, which starts and finishes in the town of Lonquimay, Chile and covers 130km and 2800m of ascent, is also open to local riders as a one day race, which has been aptly named the 130Krater race. AlpacAttack, which takes place between April 13th to 18th has already attracted some big name riders including Sonya Ewonus of the USA and Yuki Ikeda of Japan, who are also joined by a strong contingency of riders from the home nations of Argentina and Chile as well as riders from Uruguay, Brazil, UK, Australia, Poland, Hungary, Canada and Korea.
The winner of AlpacAttack gains automatic entry to the last race in the series, the infamous YakAttack which encompasses the Annapurna mountain range of Nepal, and a number of riders have designs on being only one of a handful to complete all three races in the 2015 series.
Entries are still open for AlpacAttack and the other races in the series, Rumble in the Jungle and YakAttack and details of all the races and entry forms can be found on The YakAttack website
Sam Pilgrim Renews Contract with NS Bikes
We are proud to announce that Sam Pilgrim, one of the most talented slopestyle and dirt jump riders on the planet will continue riding for NS Bikes for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Sam showed everyone what he’s made of by winning the overall 2013 FMB World Championship title. He took it easier in the 2014 season, spending more time riding on his Fuzz DH bike and making some killer video edits.
However, he has big plans to reach out for the crown again in the coming season. Sam has become part of our family and it would be hard for us to imagine a divorce any time soon. We can also safely say that Sam feels the same about working with NS Bikes.
For 2015 he will be using the following bikes:
– NS Majesty limited edition bike for dirt jumping and slopestyle
– NS Fuzz for DH and freeride
– NS Analog for getting around town
– NS Snabb for everything else
All bikes will be equipped with NS Bikes and Octane One components, Marzocchi suspension, Continental tires and Halo Wheels.
