With our brand-new Vertic Trail, Sixpack presents its first clipless pedal: a great deal of time was put into its development, optimizing the strengths and eliminating the weaknesses of existing systems. Alongside our own expertise, they placed great value on feedback from team riders, such as Marcus Klausmann. The goal here was clear: Sixpack wanted to build a high-end clipless pedal at an affordable price. According to German downhill legend Marcus Klausmann, we more than achieved this!
Pedals are an important point of contact between the biker and the bike, so you do not want to make any compromises there. Sixpack is known for high-quality flat pedals, but the clipless pedal rider’s large fan base will now also be attended to with high-end pedals from Sixpack. And Sixpack scores points immediately here as well with a sophisticated design:
– An open pedal body for excellent self-cleaning
– A fixed stand with two pins on the front side
– Flattened design for easy engaging
– One of the lightest trail clipless pedals thanks to the weight-optimized design (354 g)
The Vertic Trail pedal was designed for trail, all-mountain, and enduro use. It has a very defined freedom of movement of 8° (+/- 4° from the neutral position) and a large contact surface for perfect control. The release force can be easily adjusted thanks to a scale. The binding mechanism is SPD®-compatible and has been tested and optimized for many pedal shoe combinations.
Another special feature of the Vertic Trail pedal is the selectable Q-factor (distance from the center of the pedal to the thread) of 52.5 mm of 58.5 mm. A larger Q-factor provides more space so you don’t, for example, rub the beautiful paint on the chainstays and also provides advantages in curves thanks to the wider frame. However, the Q-factor should match your own anatomy to prevent knee pain.
Sixpack can draw on many years of expertise when it comes to the pedal body and bearing. The main goals were durability and reliability, along with a low weight. That is why only high-quality materials and components are used. The pedal body is made from 6061T6 CNC-milled aluminum. Hardened coated CrMo steel is used for the axles and the bearing consists of a sealed industrial bearings and IGUS bushings.
The Vertic Trail clipless pedal is available now in the colors of Stealth Black, Racing Red, Vivid Blue, and Electric Green at specialist retail stores or in the Sixpack online shop

We are proud to announce three new partnerships for the 2017 season. GT Bicycles has come aboard as the official supplier of frames for all bikes including rental, retail and programs. Spank Industries is now the official bar, stem, and pedal supplier. And just recently, E*thirteen is on as the Official Chainguide Supplier.
Quit dreaming, the mean looking GT Fury will be the weapon of choice for your sleepless summer. Close to 400 of these in the fleet.
“The opportunity to join forces with GT, a brand that has such deep roots in the mountain bike community, is an honour and we are thrilled to see where the relationship takes us in the future”, said Rob McSkimming, VP of Business Development at Whistler Blackcomb. “GT’s reputation as a race and freeride-driven organization will bring new energy to the Bike Park allowing our guests to hit the trails on the best bikes possible. We are stoked to roll out this season’s line up which consists of the Fury as the DH sled and the Sanction as the All-Mountain/Enduro option”.
Crabapple Hits has been the long time home of the Crankworx Official Whip-Off World Championships presented by Spank, and Spank Industries this year deepens its commitment to Whistler by providing the parts to keep the bikes under control. The entire GT fleet is equipped with Spank’s innovative Vibrocore bars, Spank stems, special edition seat posts, and Spike and Oozy platform pedals will provide the reliability you need to bag lap after lap on your favourite trails.
The big rig has been proven on the World Cup circuit; we are excited to let it loose in the Bike Park.
Spank’s innovative Vibrocore bars dampen the harmful vibrational frequencies that cause hand / arm fatigue over hours of repetitive riding. A perfect solution to optimize hours of comfortable riding in the Bike Park.
Sink your shoes into these and you will feel like you’re clipped in
For those looking for a more nimble machine, the GT Sanction is capable of handling all of the dreamy tech and flow you get get your hands on.
Can you hear Top of the World calling your name?
Thanks to the guys at Fluid Function the bikes are running well and looking mint.
Dreaming season if just about over, it’s almost time to throw a leg over these beauties and go wild.
Returning to the program for the 2017 season are our friends at SRAM, Maxxis, ODI, DT Swiss, IXS, GMC, Clif, Pinkbike, Monster, Oakley, GoPro, Dakine and Kokanee – thanks for making it all happen.
To celebrate the new partnership, GT will be giving away a trip for two to opening weekend of the Bike Park where GT will also be on site. Be sure to stay tuned to @gtbicycles and stop by their booth at Sea Otter to see the custom built bikes!
While winter is still very much underway on the West Coast of Canada, our dreams are no less filled with the sound of tires ripping through dirt and air whizzing through our helmets. Start prepping, tuning and polishing; the Bike Park opens May 19.

Steele Industries was founded in 2011 by Harry Steele with the help and support from like minded riders in the UK. We participate and compete in a range of disciplines, from dirt jumping to downhill racing which helps us understand and push our prototypes and potential new products to breaking point to ensure the quality and durability of the components we sell.
After a year of developing a new pedal design we are finally able to release the PO30 platform pedal.
Our design offers a robust body and axle turning on a large 61802 2RS sealed bearing and IGUS bushing. The body has a 2mm concave that cradles your foot and sinks the 11 pins into your sole for superior traction that does not hinder you from being able to make micro adjustments to your foot position during a ride.
The PO30 makes use of a large platform, with it measuring out at 110 x 107mm. Total weight for the pair is 405 grams.
Each rider has a personal preference when it comes to the amount of grip their pedals offer which is why the PO30 is supplied with two sets of pins, extra long and standard size with the option to add grub screw pins to the centre of the pedal body for maximum traction.
• Extruded and machined from Steele Industries molds and 6061 T6 aluminium
• 110mm x 107mm footprint
• Concave 2mm deep pedal profile per side
• 13mm thin at the centre
• Symmetrical pedal profile for added foot support and stability
• 11 extra long pins per side
• Includes extra set of standard size pins
• Large 61802 2RS sealed bearing and IGUS bushing internals

Compared to the vast array of flat pedals, choice in the clipless pedal market is restricted, even though the range of clippy compatible shoes massively outnumbers flat pedal sneakers. Shimano’s classic SPD system, Crankbrothers, Time and more recently HT have been your suppliers of choice, with aggressive options using a large platform or cage with pins for traction being very rare. Nukeproof have stepped into this niche with a duo of platforms for you to get your cleats into. Will 2017 be the year of Sam Hill clipping in to accelerate him to Enduro World Series glory? We have a pair in the post for testing, but for now you can read the press release below. – Paul Aston
Since our inception, Nukeproof has been synonymous with high-quality innovative components. Components blending high-quality materials like titanium and Carbon, with products like Bombshell hubs and Carbon bars. These values are as true today as they were in 1990 creating components that we want to ride.
In 2015 we released our Horizon Pro and Comp pedal range – a project jointly developed with Sam Hill. The aim; to provide the ultimate flat pedal platform. This was our starting point for Horizon, using our experienced athlete and development team to create class leading products. Horizon has no boundaries, Horizon will allow you to perform to your potential and chase the edge of performance.
Introducing the latest addition to the Horizon range: Horizon CL and Horizon CS.
Designed and developed in-house to meet our exacting standards, taking input and influence from our elite athletes including; Matti Lehikoinen and Mike Jones. The New CL and CS take inspiration from our ultra successful Horizon Pro pedal. Developed featuring our unique platform, offering confidence inspiring feel with a secure, easy engagement mechanism.
The CL is the larger of the two platforms designed as a more gravity focused pedal, with the smaller caged CS model designed towards the trail customer.
Both Horizon CL and CS use our proven axle system utilizing a combination of sealed cartridge bearings and DU bushes to provide a super durable and easily serviceable assembly.
PROVEN AXLE SYSTEM
As with the Horizon Pro we produced the 6061 Aluminium body using a cold forged process which equips the pedal with high strength Vs weight characteristics due to its optimized grain structure. This is not achievable with more common cast or machined pedal chassis. The Q factor (55mm) of the pedals will not change between the CS and CL and is designed to be compatible with 142mm/148mm/150mm rear axles.
The 6061 Aluminium chassis has been cleverly engineered and designed to accommodate a multitude of shoe profiles (Black outline is the CL and Green the CS). The sloping toe edge prevents obstruction during engagement, reduces weight and protects the bindings and mechanism from strikes with rocks and obstacles.
LOW PROFILE CONTOURED CHASSIS
The Horizon CL and CS have a large pedal to shoe contact area either side of the mechanism. This is designed to add stability when engaged, maximizes power transfer and provides a flat pedal feel inspiring confidence for riders of all abilities.
SIDE SUPPORT PLATFORM
Riders can tailor the traction pins to offer varying levels of grip depending on preference by simple adjustment of the pin heights or removing pins completely through removal of the washers supplied. (6 pins on the CL model/ 4 Pins on the CS model).
OPTIMISED LEADING EDGE
Our unique chassis profile and clever placement of the pins and have led the way for a contoured leading edge to help deflect rock strikes and obstacle impacts away from the mechanism and riders foot.
DUAL ENGAGEMENT CLEAT
The Nukeproof cleat is profiled with front and rear ramped edges offers a seamless engagement with the mechanism in all riding conditions. Spring-loaded front and rear bindings enable the rider to engage from all
directions (forwards, backwards and above). Spring tension can be adjusted via a 3mm hex key offering varying levels disengagement force.
There will be two versions of the cleat available with a varying degree of float form +4 (supplied with pedal) to +8 degrees. This cleat system is unique to Nukeproof, but does support SPD devices.
All Pedals will be available in 4 colors: Black, Red, Blue and Copper

Crankbrothers has released a new long spindle version of it’s award-winning Mallet E enduro pedals. The Mallet E LS features a 5mm longer spindle, delivering a wide 57mm q-factor vs. the 52mm q-factor of the standard Mallet E. The increased q-factor provides for greater shoe clearance, stability, and control.
“The Mallet E LS is a direct result of feedback from our customers and pro riders,” said Kellen Trachy, Crankbrothers Global Marketing Manager. “Though a majority prefer the standard 52mm q-factor of the Mallet E for it’s maneuverability advantages in tight singletrack, a number of riders have asked for a wider version for increased shoe clearance and stability at speed. Now riders have the option to choose the model that meets their needs.”
Enduro World Series racers Curtis Keene, Martin Maes, and Iago Garay were seen riding the Mallet E LS at EWS #5 at Aspen Snowmass.
About the Mallet E LS
The Mallet E LS features a unique two-toned black and electric blue body, and a wide 57mm q-factor for increased shoe clearance, stability, and control. The concave platform features 6 adjustable pins per side for grip, ribbed body sections for traction when unclipped, and chamfered edges to reduce rock-strikes. Traction pad technology allows for customization and optimization of the shoe/pedal interface. The clip-in mechanism features 4-sided entry, superior mud shedding, and customizable float & release angle. Like all of crankbrothers 2016 clip-in pedals, the Mallet E LS is outfitted with premium bearings and double seal system, and is backed by a 5 year warranty.
