Rapid Racer Products “EndurOGuard”

It doesn’t seem that long ago that the only options for keeping trail splatter out of your face was a makeshift piece of discarded inner tubing and a few zip ties fashioned around your lower crown and the brace of your fork. Later on, there was the floppy moto style of the THE fender…which to be honest got a bit distracting as the amount of movement in that thing didn’t quite help with front wheel placement on the trail.

As with all progression curves it wasn’t long before someone started to develop a more aesthetically pleasing splatter guard to satisfy us, oh so vain riders. Here’s were Craig Bromley and his companyRRP (Rapid Racer Products) came in a few years back with their take on the “Inner Tube” solution. The NeoGuard was born and took the concept of the waste tube solution and formalised it using Velcro and neoprene to ensure a removable, washable and to be honest a great looking solution to never ending problem of racing in the UK and in fact the rest of world.

So this brings us to the latest RRP product launch…the “EndurOGuard” (EOG)…OK I might not quite be on the bus when it comes to using the E-marketing term of the decade but I’ll let that one slip for the moment and lets see what makes this new flexi guard different from the rest.

Dropping onto the marketplace in a pretty saturated area the EOG is RRP’s take on the almost obligatory splatter guard that you’ll see on everyone’s bike. From World Cup downhillers right down to commuters heading to the office every morning, rain or shine.

Colours Available

So what’s the RRP EOG got that the rest haven’t?

Well for start is a wee bit stiffer than some of the rivals, which in itself isn’t big thing but if you’re a regular uplift thrasher that extra bulk might just make the difference in the longevity stakes…but at £8.99 rrp (no pun intended) it’s not really an issue.

Colours! And lots of them, black through red and onto pink with green in-between…no turquoise for those fashion conscience Nomad riders! But at least the pink one will do in the meantime.

Fit is great…with options for rear fitting as well. Zip ties supplied are white, which might not go with your fork/rear but not a biggy to sort. Some bikes might require an extra hole or 2 just to get the fit right, especially on the rear if your chain stays don’t have a cross brace to utilise the 2 pop out hole for fastening.

Sizes 2 of them at the moment, standard (up to 120mm fork) and Large (up to 200mm fork).

Seal Guards! Yes a little extra material “bulge” which resides lower than the seals to keep the splatter away from the ever-sensitive area of the wiper seals.

Summing up…

It’s a mudguard after all, so how excited can you really get? Well just to confirm that it’s made in the UK by a UK firm, it’s only £8.99, it comes in many colours…hopefully turquoise soon and it’s almost compulsory to have one of these fitted even if you only ride in the dry.

We’re running a few of these on different bikes and we’ll give a longterm update in the future…it just so happens there’s not much splatter about just now to test properly.

Title: RRP “EndurOGuard” £8.99
Sizes Available: STANDARD – for forks from 80mm to 120mm travel, LARGE – for forks from 130mm to 200mm travel
Colours: Black, White, Red, Green and Pink
Usage: The ENDUROGUARDTM is designed as a FRONT or REAR mudguard and has been specifically adapted to do both jobs extremely well, the holes that are correct for fitting to the front forks do not work when using them to fit as a rear mudguard (unless the bike has a dropped rear brace), our snap off holes allows you to rotate the guard forward for better tyre clearance and protection.
SEAL GUARD TM: This additional bulge has been added and refined to offer additional protection against the relentless attack from spray and mud without affecting the fit or aesthetics, you will be grateful for this feature on those extremely wet rides prolonging the life of your fork seals.
FRONT MUDGUARD: The ‘T’ shape clamping points are designed to wrap around the fork leg providing a better and neater fit. The front of the mudguard is designed to offer slightly increased protection without spoiling the look of the mudguard. The wider curve with flat rear end offers maximum protection and frame clearance compared to a simple symmetrical curve. The main holes for the STANDARD and the LARGE are located in slightly different places, this reflects the differences between fork braces on long and short travel forks.
REAR MUDGUARD: The holes for the fork brace aren’t ideally located when using it as a REAR mudguard, so we built in 2 snap-off holes to allow you to rotate the guard forward and attach it to the brace between the rear stays (NB: The snap off holes are available on both the STANDARD and the LARGE sizes). This feature creates more mud/tyre clearance and a much better fit (although you can still use the main holes for the small number of bikes that have a dropped rear brace). Choose either the STANDARD or LARGE size depending on what rear protection you want to achieve (STANDARD would be the default size recommendation).
GRAPHICS: Our product displays cool looking 2 tone screen printed graphics with our awesome Evil Eyes on the front to finish off the look nicely. The fork travel suitability for each size is written on the mudguard for ease of purchasing.
MATERIAL: We took a more expensive route opting for a custom thickness of polypropylene to meet our requirements, we felt the standard
